Cougars finish 3rd in hoops tourney

LOCUST GROVE — Class 3A No. 10 Keys blasted Westville, 56-41, to finish third in the Bank of Locust Grove Invitational on Saturday.

Peyton Ragsdale paced the Cougars (9-5) with 19 points. Trevor Eubanks chipped in with 13 points for Keys, and Cody Cole had 12.

Keys was able to take control when it outscored Westville 13-4 in the final quarter.

Justin Self led Westville with 12 points.

The Keys girls claimed the consolation title on Saturday, beating Salina 86-50.

Mylee Hewitt, an All-Tournament selection, led Keys with a 39-point effort.

“She was unconscious,” Keys coach Mickey Duncan said.

Morgan Drywater added 18 points for the Lady Cougars (8-6).

Both Keys teams will be back in action Tuesday night at home against Catoosa.
