White, Peralta named All-Americans

Bo White and Juan Peralta were both honored as 2012 Daktronics NCAA Division II All Americans, the organization announced on Thursday.

White, a senior midfielder from Durant, was named to the Daktronics All-America First Team. Peralta, a sophomore forward from Tulsa, earned honorable mention accolades.

White tied for the MIAA lead in points and finished second in goals (14 goals, 5 assists, 33 points). He started all 21 matches and was named both the 2012 Daktronics Central Region Player of the Year and the 2012 MIAA Player of the Year.

White ranked 18th in the NCAA in total points and 19th in total goals. He was also named to the All-Central Region First Team and the All-MIAA First Team.

Peralta played in all 21 matches and made 16 starts. He finished the season with team and conference highs in both goals and points (15 goals, 3 assists, 33 points). He also finished 11th in the nation in total goals and 18th in total points.

Peralta was named to the Daktronics All-Central Region First Team and the All-MIAA First Team to go along with his All-American accolade.

White and Peralta were the only two players from both the Central Region and the MIAA to earn All-American status.

Northeastern State finished the season in the NCAA Quarterfinals — a first for the program. The RiverHawks recorded a 13-5-3 record and a 7-1-2 mark in the MIAA. The 13 wins were third-most in school history.

Sports information directors from NCAA Division II schools and conferences sponsoring men’s soccer selected the Daktronics All-America teams. The process begins at the regional level with all first team All-Region picks advancing to the national ballot.

This is the seventh year Daktronics has sponsored the NCAA Division II men’s soccer All-America and All-Region teams. A total of 60 student-athletes representing 38 different institutions filled out the three teams and honorable mention selections. Tyler Lobe and Brandon Bronzan of the Sonoma State (Calif.) University Sports Information office assisted in the voting process.
