OWASSO — Tahlequah breezed past Berryhill junior varsity, 18-3, on the opening day of the Owasso tournament on Thursday.
Ryan Sanders picked up the pitching victory for the Tigers.
On offense, Houston Glad and Colby Brittain both hit home runs for the Tigers (4-4). Glad finished with six runs batted in while Brittain had three.
Tahlequah will now face the winner of the Cascia Hall-Muskogee matchup at Friday at 5 p.m.
THS finishes 2nd at golf tourney
BROKEN ARROW — Jake Johnson shot a 75 and finished fourth overall to lead Tahlequah to a second-place finish at the McLain tournament at Forest Ridge Golf Club in Broken Arrow on Wednesday.
Hunter Pennington finished 12th for Tahlequah with an 80.
Rounding out the rest of the Tigers’ scores were Brent Spradlin (81), Kyler Arnall (83) and Blake Cochran (91).
Union won the tournament with a 312, beating Tahlequah by seven strokes. Poteau’s Cody Shore, Memorial’s Eric Moore and Lincoln Christian’s Tyler Crooks all tied for first place with 74s.
Tahlequah’s next tournament will be March 25 at Tulsa Country Club at a Class 5A state tournament preview tournament.
