TAHLEQUAH DAILY PRESS — The Hulbert Riders were shut by the Commerce Tigers 62-0 Thursday. The Tigers now lead the all-time series 4-1.
The Tigers scored 28 points in the first quarter, then 20 more in the second for a 48-0 lead at the half.
Bryson Sellers scored the first two touchdowns on runs of two and 45 yards for Commerce. Joey Bowling added the kick on both scores for a 14-0 lead.
Micky Morgan then scored on a 76-yard kickoff return and Ricky Watkins ran for 52 yards for the other two scores for the Tigers. Bowling added the two extra points for a 28-0 lead.
The Tigers scored three times in the second as Jerrod Kirtley had a 28-yard pass to Luis Arizpe and Sullivan went 22 yards and Morgan went 35 yards for another Tiger touchdown. Bowling kicked three out of four extra points for a 48-0 lead at the half.
Watkins scored twice in the second half on a 14-yard run in the third and a two yard run in the fourth. Bowling added both extra points kicks for the 62-0 win.
Mark Squyres was the leading rusher for the Riders with 32 yards on seven carriers. Marcus Smith had 15 rushing attempts for 15 yards.
Skyler Heaton was 2-of-14 for 12 yards with two interceptions passing while Brett Walker was the leading receiver with one catch for 12 yards.
Squyres has 15 tackles to lead the team. Steven Swinford added 10 tackles to end the season with a team-high 109.
With the loss, the Riders finish the season at 1-8 in district play and 1-9 overall.
