Baylee Ratliff went 3 for 3 with two singles, a triple and one run batted in as Sequoyah beat Westville, 5-2, on Thursday afternoon.
Jamie Linch and Rain Thompson both added a RBI apiece for Sequoyah (7-1).
Jessica Bluebird picked up the victory for the Lady Indians by striking out four and allowing only four hits.
Sequoyah will play again Friday in the Broken Arrow tournament. The Lady Indians will play Jenks, Claremore, Sapulpa, Inola and Westmoore during pool play of the two-day tournament. Sequoyah’s final game in the tournament will be in bracket play on Saturday.
SHS outlasts Wagoner
Sequoyah recorded its second straight five-sit victory on Thursday, beating Wagoner 3-2 (24-26, 25-22, 20-25, 25-19, 15-8). The Lady Indians’ victory comes two days after knocking off Salina on Tuesday.
Against Wagoner, Sequoyah’s Baylee Herrin had 11 kills, Kendra Hammer had eight kills and Eva Hooper had 22 assists and six aces.
“We’re just up and down right now with consistency and effort,” Sequoyah coach Jay Herrin said. “But we managed to pull out the win.”
Sequoyah will again Friday and Saturday as it hosts a tournament at The Place Where They Play.
