TAHLEQUAH DAILY PRESS — The Lady Cougars got their first win of the season yesterday when they run-ruled Sallisaw Central 8-0 in five innings.
“I was really proud of our team, we hit the ball well,” Keys coach Amy Hamilton said. “We just have to stop waiting until late in the game to start scoring.”
Brittany Drywater threw for Keys and earned the win with two strike outs and allowed three hits in the game.
The Lady Cougars brought in two runs in the first inning, one in the third, and then five in the fourth inning.
Megan Alsenay went two-for-three from the plate for the Lady Cougars with two singles.
Caitlin Ratliff went two-for-three as well with a single and a three-RBI double. Amanda Walker was one-for-three with a two-RBI single.
Britney Walls, Hannah Swan and Melinda Rogers all hit one-for-two with a single and C.J. Alsenay was one-for-two with an RBI single.
The Lady Cougars have a record of 1-1 now and play at home today against the Roland Rangers at 4 p.m.
