Cougars get past Dewey in regional semifinals

ADAIR — Trevor Eubanks poured in 25 points including a 12-for-16 effort from the charity stripe to lead Keys past the Dewey Bulldogs 57-50 in the opening round of the area tournament on Thursday night.

The Cougars opened up a six point lead after one quarter of play and led throughout the contest.

Mason Turman added 12 for KHS, Chance Girdner chipped in 7, and Tyler Blankenship scored 4. Cody Cole and Zach Rogers rounded out the scoring for Keys with two apiece.

Cameron Kuhns and Michael Sanders paced Dewey, each with 12.

The Cougars will now take on Sperry for the regional championship on Saturday night in Adair.

As for the Keys girls, they lost to Adair 77-54. Sydni Rainbolt led Keys with 15 points.



Hulbert (boys) 72, Dove Science 62

MOUNDS — Craig Potts scored 20 points to lead Hulbert to a victory in the Class 2A regional consolation quarterfinals on Thursday afternoon. Mason Fielden poured in 18 points, and Parker Taylor added 15 points for the Riders.

Hulbert used a 26-6 advantage in the second quarter to take a 39-17 lead at halftime.

Dove Science, behind Deshaun Jackson's 23 points and Matt Olsen 17 points, mounted a second-half comeback but came up short.

Hulbert will play the loser of Chouteau-Oklahoma Union today at 3 p.m. at Mounds.



Northeast 70, Hulbert (girls) 28

MOUNDS — The undefeated Northeast (Oklahoma City) Vikings jumped out to a 22-8 advantage and rolled to a 70-28 victory over Hulbert on Thursday night.

The Lady Riders fought back momentarily, playing the Vikings nearly even in the second period, before faltering down the stretch.

Tiffany Thompson led the way for Hulbert with 12 points, including a 3-of-7 effort from behind the arc, in a losing effort. Lindsay Krueger added 5, Allison Arnall contributed 4, and Rachel Hamby rounded out the Rider scoring with a pair of her own.

Where do you think bicycle trails are most needed in Cherokee County?

In the downtown corridor.
Not downtown, because it would be too congested, but on peripheral streets, like Bluff, Downing and College, and Muskogee but not downtown.
On the rural highways mainly in recreational areas, like Highways 10 and 82.
Only in special areas, like parks.
I do not think Cherokee County needs any (or more) bike trails.
