OKLAHOMA CITY — Northeastern State golfer Whitney McAteer won her opening match of the 94th annual State Amateur Championship on Tuesday.
McAteer beat Leigh Ann Fore 5 and 3 to advance to the second round at Gaillardia Country Club in Oklahoma City. McAteer, the two-time defending champion at the event, will take on June Tigert in the second round of the Championship Flight on Wednesday.
In the Presidents Flight, Oktaha’s Kailey Campbell and Muskogee’s Catrina Pearson both advanced with first-round victories.
