SAN MARCOS, Texas — Damen Bell-Holter and Warren Niles scored 21 points apiece, helping Oral Roberts to an 86-77 victory Wednesday over Texas State in the first meeting between the schools since 1995.
Bell-Holter was 10 of 14 from the field and added a game-high eight rebounds, while Niles hit three 3-pointers for the Golden Eagles (5-4). Niles came into the game sixth in the nation in 3-point field goal percentage (55.6 percent). Shawn Glover chipped in 15 points.
Matt Staff led the Bobcats (3-5) with 19 points on 8-of-12 shooting, and Joel Wright scored 17.
Texas State opened the game on a 15-4 run, but Oral Roberts responded with its own run and went ahead for good, 33-31, on Korey Billbury's jumper 4:07 before halftime and led 47-42 at the break. In the second half, the Bobcats pulled within 78-73 on Phil Hawkins' 3-pointer with 2:29 left but could get no closer.
