The Hulbert girls dominated Mounds en route to a 59-30 victory on Saturday night at Liberty High School.
With the win, Hulbert advanes to play 2A No. 1 Northeast on Thursday in Mounds.
Against Mounds in the district title game, Tiffany Thompson led Hulbert with 26 points. Allison Arnall added 15, and Lindsay Krueger chipped in with 11.
Hulbert pounced on Mounds early and opened up to a 19-7 lead at the end of the first quarter. By halftime, the score was 30-9.
“We felt like if we pushed the basketball they’d have a hard time keeping Allion in front of them,” Hulbert coach Rick Ott said. “We did that and it opened things up for Tiffany.”
The Hulbert boys lost to Mounds, 54-53, in the district finals. Craig Potts led the Riders with 20 points.
In Park Hill, the Keys girls claimed a district title in 3A, beating Salina, 49-39.
Sydni Rainbolt, after picking up two quick fouls in the first half, scored all 12 of her team-high point total in the second half.
Even with Rainbolt on the bench, Keys was able to claim a 17-15 lead at halftime.
Up next for the Lady Cougars will be Adair in the regional semifinals on Thursday night in Adair.
The Keys boys beat Salina 66-55, thanks to 33 points from Trevor Eubanks.
