Former Sequoyah QB to play in Shrine Game

Southeastern Louisiana quarterback Nathan Stanley, a former standout at Sequoyah, has accepted an invitation to play in the 88th East-West Shrine Game. The game will be held Jan. 19 at Tropicana Field in St. Petersburg, Fla.

The will begin at 3 p.m. and will be televised on the NFL Network.

Stanley will be one of four quarterbacks on the East Squad, coached by Jerry Glanville. The other quarterbacks on the East team will be Collin Klein of Kansas State, Colby Cameron of Louisiana Tech and Sean Renfree of Duke.

In his first year as a starter, Stanley threw for 1,952 yards and nine touchdowns in helping Southeastern to a 5-6 record and a 5-2 mark in the Southland Conference. The former Ole Miss transfer threw for a season-high 280 yards against UT Martin before tossing for 247 yards and a touchdown in a come-from-behind victory over nationally-ranked McNeese State.

Stanley is slated to play in the Casino Del Sol College Football All-Star Game on Friday in Tucson, Ariz., where he will play for the East Squad. The game will be televised on ESPN3 and WatchESPN.com.
