Scrap metal theft halted

TAHLEQUAH — Cherokee County sheriff’s deputies took a report Monday after a couple discovered three people loading up scrap metal from their son’s property.

Steven Cooper said he and his wife were driving by and noticed a truck in their son’s field. Three people were loading scrap metal onto a trailer. Deputies spoke to one of the suspects, who said she believed the metal was on her property and told her boyfriend he could load it up. The metal was put back once she realized it wasn’t on her family’s property.

Deputies spoke to Angela McHenry Monday about $65 being taken from her purse.

Darcia Scott reported a vehicle window shattered out of her vehicle Tuesday.

Jesse Fine reported theft of medication Tuesday.

Tara Prock told deputies this week that someone threw a rock at her and knocked her off of an all-terrain vehicle, and then two females assaulted her while she was on the ground.

What do you think of Sen. McCain's proposal to allow cable TV channels to be sold a la carte (individually, rather than in bundles with a lot of channels no one wants)? Bear in mind some less popular channels could go by the wayside with no bundling support, and that while overall packages should theoretically decrease in cost, individual channels might cost more.

Strongly in favor of a la carte.
Somewhat in favor of a la carte.
Somewhat opposed to a la carte.
