Sheriff's Beat - RWD No. 12 reports theft of water service

TAHLEQUAH — Employees of a local rural water district reported theft of water Wednesday.

Rural Water District 12 officials told Cherokee County sheriff’s deputies they put a lock on a water meter, but the people living there cut the lock and have been stealing water.

In other matters, Kristina Chester told deputies this week that someone has stolen several UPS packages.

Jamie Winsby told deputies this week she’s received threats on Facebook.

George Allen Murphy, 33, was arrested earlier this month for being intoxicated in a public place.

Deputies filed a death-investigation report this week on Retha G. Rogers, 64, of Park Hill. Her manner of death is believed to be suicide. The medical examiner’s office was called to investigate.

What do you think of Sen. McCain's proposal to allow cable TV channels to be sold a la carte (individually, rather than in bundles with a lot of channels no one wants)? Bear in mind some less popular channels could go by the wayside with no bundling support, and that while overall packages should theoretically decrease in cost, individual channels might cost more.

Strongly in favor of a la carte.
Somewhat in favor of a la carte.
