Local property vandalized

Tahlequah police took a report Sunday from a local woman concerning vandalism to her property. Sontinia Stroud said several boards were broken or missing from her fence.

Aimee Swensen said Monday her Samsung LCD television, Nintendo and RCA surround sound were stolen.

Kam Hendrickson said Monday a wallet was nabbed from a parked vehicle.

Kristal Jenkins, 21, and Arron Clinton, 26, were arrested Monday for larceny at Walmart.

Johnny McElhaney filed a report Monday about two ladders being stolen from his vehicle.

Jimmy Potts, 27, was arrested Monday for allegedly trying to pass an altered prescription, which was written for 10 Lortab and allegedly changed to 100.

Kelli Johnson filed a domestic abuse report last Tuesday.

The use of cell phones while driving is increasingly becoming an issue. What do you think about cell phone use by emergency personnel, like law enforcement officers, EMTs, firemen, etc.?

• If the law allows the common citizen to use cell phones while driving, emergency personnel should be able to also.
• Emergency personnel should be held to a higher standard. Since they are often driving faster than normal, they should not be allowed to use cell phones while driving, even if other citizens can.
• They should be allowed to use them like anyone else, but their host entities (hospitals, fire departments, cities, etc.) should carry extra insurance for this reason.
