Residents report BBs shot at vehicles

Cherokee County sheriff’s deputies took reports from a pair of residents concerning BBs being shot at vehicles.

John Coats said Monday he found BB holes in the headlights of his semi truck.

Dustin Cape said his windshield was hit with a BB gun Monday.

Duane Geasland said Monday a tjoef took his 16-foot flatbed trailer.

Carol Stanley told deputies a vandal knocked down her mailbox.

Julie Enlow said Saturday her phone, debit card and checks were stolen.

Evan Schuering said Monday someone took three laptop computers, a TV and music equipment.

Robert Auten filed a fraud report Monday.

A 32-year-old woman filed a sexual assault report last Friday.

The use of cell phones while driving is increasingly becoming an issue. What do you think about cell phone use by emergency personnel, like law enforcement officers, EMTs, firemen, etc.?

• If the law allows the common citizen to use cell phones while driving, emergency personnel should be able to also.
• Emergency personnel should be held to a higher standard. Since they are often driving faster than normal, they should not be allowed to use cell phones while driving, even if other citizens can.
• They should be allowed to use them like anyone else, but their host entities (hospitals, fire departments, cities, etc.) should carry extra insurance for this reason.
