Dispute prompts arrest

Cherokee County sheriff’s deputies arrested an area man early Tuesday after responding to a dispute that occurred at the Welling Bridge.

Jonathan Ross Lyman, 28, was booked into jail after allegedly physically assaulting Thomas Bear II. Bear’s entire face was badly swollen and discolored. Sheriff’s Deputy Tommy Moore’s report states Bear also had a deep cut on his right eyebrow. Lyman allegedly assaulted Bear after Bear intervened when Lyman hit his sister, Emily Bear. Moore booked Lyman on counts of aggravated assault and battery and assault and battery.

Sheriff’s Deputy Preston Oosahwee arrested Allie Birdinground, 33, for domestic violence after an alleged physical assault on Mary Nelson.

Bobby Young filed a report Monday concerning an alleged theft of his vehicle tag, number 8466 C1.

Candace Jackson filed a threats report Monday.
