TAHLEQUAH DAILY PRESS — Cherokee County sheriff’s deputies arrested an area man Wednesday night after he allegedly tried to break into a car on an impound storage lot.
Justin Brown, 19, was booked by Sheriff’s Deputy Tommy Moore for attempted burglary and possession of controlled drug. Reports state Curtis Russell heard his dogs barking at Rose’s and Rich’s’ Wrecker Service and went outside to investigate. Brown was allegedly trying to get inside a car impounded in August. He told Moore he was trying to get a textboook from the vehicle. He also had three Darvocet pills in the vehicle he was driving, and admitted to Moore he had no prescription at this time for the pills.
In an unrelated matter, Dana Kelly said Monday a man knocked out her outside porch light and kicked in her door because he was wanting to retrieve some clothes. He allegedly held a knife to her throat and cut the phone line in her kitchen.
