Wagoner man jailed for public intoxication

TAHLEQUAH — Cherokee County sheriff’s deputies arrested a Wagoner man Monday on charges of public drunk.

Clifford Wayne Cartwright, 32, was arrested near Tri-B Nursery after deputies responded to a man reportedly trying to break in at the business.

Robert Cary spoke to deputies Monday about reckless handling of a firearm. Cary said a neighbor had been shooting a gun, and the bullets were flying over his head.

The suspect told deputies he was shooting the shotgun at a target, and didn’t intend to shoot at or near his neighbor. Deputies confiscated the gun because the suspect had a previous felony conviction.

Andrew Cummins, 43, of Tahlequah, was placed under citizens arrest Monday for assault and battery after he allegedly struck Michael Cullen in the face.

Jason Pritchett spoke to deputies Monday and said a PlayStation 3, XBox Kinect, and other items were stolen from his house.

Poll

Where do you think bicycle trails are most needed in Cherokee County?

In the downtown corridor.
Not downtown, because it would be too congested, but on peripheral streets, like Bluff, Downing and College, and Muskogee but not downtown.
On the rural highways mainly in recreational areas, like Highways 10 and 82.
Only in special areas, like parks.
I do not think Cherokee County needs any (or more) bike trails.
