Stilwell man arrested for DUI, open container

TAHLEQUAH — A Stilwell man was arrested Saturday after deputies spotted his vehicle running off the road and traveling left of center.

Ben Bush Smith, 49, was booked for driving under the influence and transporting an open container.

Gilberto Montelongo, 25, of Tahlequah, was arrested last week for obstruction after he allegedly refused to comply with officers during a family dispute.

Cherokee County sheriff’s deputies spoke to a man Sunday who said he was assaulted during a wedding reception.

Richard Hohler said he was injured when a fight occurred at a wedding event. Several others also spoke to deputies about being victims from the incident, but the others said they didn’t want to press charges against the suspects.

Dorothy Toney told deputies Saturday she’d been receiving threatening messages and phone calls.

Hattie Scott told deputies last week someone falsely filled out a change-of-address form last month.

Judy Young told deputies several items were stolen out of a car that was involved in a crash and later towed.

Karla Butts spoke to deputies after she sold a man several items, and the man later placed a stop to the check he’d written her.

Justin Stillwell told deputies Friday that his 1998 Dodge truck was stolen from his friend’s house.
