Sharon Kay Burnett

TAHLEQUAH — Services for Sharon Kay Burnett will be held Wednesday, Nov. 14, at 2 p.m., at Reed-Culver Funeral Home in Tahlequah, with Rev. Dennis Hall officiating.

Interment will follow at the Proctor Cemetery in Proctor. Services are under the direction of Reed-Culver Funeral Home of Tahlequah. Pallbearers will be Johnny Horn, Danny Horn, Lonnie Horn, Johnny Burnett, Michael Steen and Donald Burnett. Honorary pallbearers are Gary Fink, Dillon Lemasters and Tommy Lemasters.

Sharon Burnett, the daughter of Virl and Barbara Horn was born on Feb. 7, 1955, in Sallisaw, and departed this life on Nov. 7, 2012, at the Hillcrest Oklahoma Heart Institute in Tulsa at the age of 57 years and nine months.

Sharon grew up in the Moody area, attended Moody School, and later graduated from Tahlequah High School, May of 1973. On June 23, 1973, Sharon married the love of her life, Ralph Burnett, in Tahlequah. They were happily married for 39 years, four months and 15 days, and to this union were born four children: Melissa, Shawna, Misty and Lindsay.

Sharon gave her life to the Lord as a young girl. She was of the Pentecostal faith, and loved attending Faith Chapel Church. She was filled with strength and courage, even though she fought cancer for 24 years. She always stayed strong in her faith and trusted in the Lord.

She enjoyed going to her grandchildren’s ballgames. She was a collector of cookbooks and angels. She was always there to care for her children and grandchildren. She will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.

She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Frank and Cornelia Horn and Hettie Stutler; her father, Virl Horn; and one daughter, Melissa.

Sharon is survived by a loving family, which includes her husband, Ralph of the home; three daughters, Shawna Stanley and husband Drew of Rose; Misty Burnett and Lindsay Burnett of the home; one brother, Bill Horn and wife Peggy of Tahlequah; two granddaughters, Kaley Stanley of Rose; Alexis Burnett of Tahlequah; two grandsons, Alex Burnett and Connor Stanley of Rose. A host of other relatives, friends and loved ones also survive her.
