John Henry Gwin
TAHLEQUAH – Services for John Henry Gwin are at 1 p.m., Tuesday, Jan. 29, 2013, at the South College Church of Christ, Tahlequah. Officiating will be Minister Stephen Parker and Minister Lloyd Coppedge.
Pallbearers are: Pat Gwin, Michael Gwin, Chris Haase, Christopher Haase II, Davin Moss and Dean Kelly. Interment will follow in the Pettit Cemetery under the care of Green Country Funeral Home. Online condolences may be left at tahlequahfuneral.com.
John Henry Gwin was born Aug. 22, 1937, in Shidler, to John Paul Gwin and Larista (Chambers) Gwin. He passed away on Jan. 26, 2013, in Tulsa at the age of 75.
John was a 1955 graduate of Tahlequah High School. Just months after graduating, on Nov. 2, 1955, he wed Barbara (Carter) Gwin and began a marriage that would last 57 years.
John attended the University of Tulsa, where he earned his associate’s degree.
John had many interests. He enjoyed golfing, fly fishing, wood carving, hunting and traveling extensively with Barbara. For 19 years, every summer, they would take a trip to Colorado. John loved spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
John served as a deacon at South College Church of Christ and retired from Oklahoma Natural Gas after 37 years of service.
John has been preceded in death by his parents.
He is survived by his loving wife, Barbara of the home; sons, Mike Wayne Gwin of Tahlequah, and Patrick Shawn Gwin and wife Sharon of Coweta; three grandchildren, Stephanie Michelle Haase of Tulsa, Michael Wayne Gwin of Broken Arrow, and Cory Anthony Gwin of Tahlequah; as well as two great-grandchildren, Christopher Michael Haase II of Tulsa, and Avoni Gwin of Broken Arrow.
