Allan Walker

TAHLEQUAH — Services for Allan Walker will be held at Tahlequah Bible Church, 107 South Mission, Thursday, Sept. 6, at 2 p.m., under the direction of Hart Funeral Home, and will be officiated by Pastor Sean Ross.

A meal will be provided for family and friends, starting at noon, at the Tahlequah Bible Church. He will be placed to rest at Mountain Home Cemetery on Beaver Mountain.

Allan Walker, 45, of Tahlequah, was promoted into the kingdom of God on Friday, Aug. 31, 2012. Allan was born in Bartlesville, on Feb. 20, 1967, to Avo and Gerald Walker. Allan was a “spectacular” deacon at Tahlequah Bible Church and a beloved member of the community.

He was a dedicated son, husband, father and grandfather, extremely caring and compassionate in every area of his life. He loved his church, baseball, classic cars, and was an avid historian. He also had a passion for not only his grandchildren but for the children of the church, and treated each and everyone as if they were his own grandchild.

During his life, he devoted much of his time to reading his Bible and reflecting his light to all of those who came into contact. He was an award-winning painter of World War II dioramas and western figures.

He is survived by his wife of 18 years, Bonnie Walker of the home; sons, Earl Bell and wife Sarah of Allen, Texas, and Daniel Bell, of Tahlequah; grandsons, Aiden and Zane Bell of Allen, Texas; brother, Everett Walker and his wife Jennifer of Newark, N.Y.; nephew, Brian Dejonge and niece, Kaylie Walker, both of Newark, N.Y.; parents, Gerald and Avo Walker  of Tahlequah; and his puppies, Peanut and Toby.

Poll

Where do you think bicycle trails are most needed in Cherokee County?

In the downtown corridor.
Not downtown, because it would be too congested, but on peripheral streets, like Bluff, Downing and College, and Muskogee but not downtown.
On the rural highways mainly in recreational areas, like Highways 10 and 82.
Only in special areas, like parks.
I do not think Cherokee County needs any (or more) bike trails.
