TAHLEQUAH —
Earl Seth Holladay, 74, passed away peacefully the evening of Dec. 21, 2012, surrounded by his loved ones at Quail Ridge Nursing Home in West Siloam Springs.
Earl was born in Pima, Ariz., on July 3, 1938. He was the only son of Seth Dodge Holladay and LaVeta Damron Holladay.
He was a retired machinist and also served in the U.S. Air Force. In Earl’s youth, he was an avid motor cycle enthusiast and entertained his family with stories from his adventures of riding from coast to coast in the 1950s.
Earl and his wife, Anna Lee ,retired to Safford, Ariz., where they owned a Mexican pottery shop. They enjoyed their many trips to Mexico to purchase supplies.
Earl and Ann loved to explore the back roads of Arizona in their 4x4Jeep. Earl then organized a Back Country Jeep and Four Wheeling club, and they and many friends traveled the back roads of Arizona for years. Earl was very familiar with the surrounding desert, the old gold mines, natural hot springs and colorful, local history.
Earl is preceded in death by his father, Seth Holladay; his mother, LaVeta (Holladay) Carter; and stepdaughter Susan Casey Smith.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Anna Lee Nottingham (Casey) Holladay; his son, Rodney Seth Holladay; daughter Cheryl Mengwasser and her husband, Paul, of Oklahoma City; stepchildren, Paula Ann Casey McCann and her husband, Steve, of Valdez, Alaska, Paul G. Casey and his wife, Mary, of Sterling, Alaska, Tim Casey of Tulsa, Mark Casey and his wife, Mary, of New Iberia, La., and Tracie Stafford and her, husband Jeff, of Locust Grove; brother Don Carter and his wife, Pilar, of Pima, Ariz., brother Jeff Carter and his wife, Barbara; sister Corene Heaps and her husband, Floyd, of Mesa, Ariz. Earl has numerous grandchildren, great-grand children, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Funeral services were held Sunday, Dec. 23, at Hart Funeral Home in Tahlequah. Burial was at the Park Hill Cemetery in Cherokee County, Dec. 26, 2012.
