NSU briefs

Cody Robinson has been named the MIAA Hitter of the Week.

The junior right fielder hit three home runs in NSU’s 10-4 victory over Truman State in the first game of Sunday’s doubleheader.

Northeastern State split a midweek doubleheader with Emporia State and won its weekend series with the Bulldogs.

In the five-game stretch, Robinson hit .412 (7-for-17) and led the team with four home runs, 11 runs batted in and a 1.235 slugging percentage. He also scored six times and hit two doubles, while not committing an error in the field.

Northeastern State will play host to Pittsburg State in a noon doubleheader Feb. 27 at Thomas C. Rousey Field.

Softball sweeps weekly MIAA accolades

Lisa Ripperger and Kayce Wooldridge swept the MIAA weekly honors.

Ripperger was named the MIAA Hitter of the Week, while Wooldridge was honored as the MIAA Pitcher of the Week.

Northeastern State posted a perfect 4-0 record this past weekend, and the RiverHawks were led by Ripperger's .769 average (10-for-13). The senior third baseman had at least two hits in all four games.

She recorded two doubles, one home run, four runs scored and four RBI. She also stole two bases, slugged 1.154 and recorded six assists at third base.

Wooldridge earned a 2-0 record in the circle and had an unblemished .000 earned run average. The freshman threw a four-hit complete-game shutout in NSUs 9-0 win over Bacone College Feb. 23.

She came on in relief duty and did not allow a run in the final 3.1 innings in NSU’s 13-5 win over William Jewell. Overall, she threw 8.1 innings and struck out five, while only allowing six hits and no runs.

The RiverHawks are set to return to action March 1-3 in the Midwestern State University Tournament in Wichita Falls, Texas.
