DENTON, Texas — The Northeastern State softball team dropped two games to No. 15 ranked Texas Woman’s University Monday afternoon at Pioneer Field.
The RiverHawks (7-9) lost the first game of the doubleheader 6-1 and were run-ruled in the second contest 18-2 in five innings by the Pioneers (19-5).
In the first game, Northeastern State was the first to score when junior Navada Campos homered to left center in the top of the second inning, however NSU would not score for the remainder of the seven innings.
Sophomore Alex Files (2-2) suffered the loss in the circle after allowing five hits and six runs in four innings.
In the second game, NSU freshman Kayce Wooldridge (3-4) was tagged with the loss after throwing two innings. She allowed eight hits and seven runs before Cayce Coleman came on in relief.
The RiverHawks will return home to host a doubleheader against Oklahoma City University at 1 p.m. Saturday at RiverHawks Park.
