Jordan Ladbrooke has been named the MIAA Men’s Soccer Player of the Week, the league announced on Tuesday.
The senior goalkeeper from Ellesmere Port, England, did not concede a goal in 157 minutes of action this past weekend, as No. 20-ranked Northeastern State (2-0) opened the season with two shutout victories on the road over both the University of Missouri-St. Louis (2-0) and Maryville University (1-0).
Against UMSL, Ladbrooke stopped three shots in 67 minutes to pick up the victory. He went the full 90 against the Saints and earned his first shutout of the year, saving one shot in the contest.
This is also Ladbrooke’s first-career honor.
NSU soccer moves up to No. 20
The Northeastern State men’s soccer team vaulted to No. 20 in the nation in the most recent NSCAA national rankings released today.
The RiverHawks (2-0) spent this past weekend in St. Louis Mo, earning victories over the University of Missouri-St. Louis (2-0) and Maryville University (1-0).
NSU was receiving votes in the preseason polls, but the team jumped into the top 20 following its successful start to the 2012 campaign.
Northeastern State was ranked on three occasions last year, earning a season-best mark of No. 14 on Sept. 13. NSU was also ranked No. 15 (Oct. 4) and No. 19 (Sept. 27).
The RiverHawks will stay on the road for two more contests, as the team will head to Hays, Kan., Sept. 7-9 for contests with Colorado Mesa and Sioux Falls.
