Parrish facing hearing on rape charge

TAHLEQUAH — A Tahlequah man is set for a preliminary hearing next month on rape and molestation charges.

Ericson Lloyd Parrish, 25, is charged with first-degree rape, rape by instrumentation, and lewd molestation.

Prosecutors allege Parrish had a sexual encounter with a teen girl last June. He was formally charged in October and arrested in December.

Parrish pleaded not guilty and is set for a preliminary hearing Feb. 13 at 9 a.m. in front of Associate District Judge Mark Dobbins.

According to an affidavit filed by former District 27 Investigator Jarrod Brown, a 14-year-old girl said she had a sexual encounter with Parrish at his home on State Highway 10.

The girl, Parrish, and Parrish’s girlfriend had been to the river and later went to Parrish’s home, according to court documents. The teen girl said she and Parrish later smoked marijuana, and the three who were at the home fell asleep in the same bed.

Parrish’s girlfriend left the home the next morning, and Parrish allegedly began to touch the teen girl inappropriately. The girl said she told Parrish “no” several times, but he continued to be persuasive, and she eventually stopped saying anything to him.

She alleges Parrish later told her to act like nothing had happened between them.

First-degree rape is punishable by one to 15 years in prison; rape by instrumentation is punishable by five years to life without parole; and lewd molestation is punishable by three to 20 years in prison.
