HULBERT — The Town of Hulbert and Public Works Authority board members Thursday night tabled an agenda on proposals submitted by Lowell Crowell of Northern Equipment Co.
During the regular meeting, board members were given a list of questions Crowell wanted them to answer so he could proceed with his water filter rehabilitation.
“I want to make sure everyone here is taking everything into consideration,” Crowell said.
Crowell said he didn’t just want to put a “Band-Aid” on the old plant. “We can fix the two existing filters, but is that the overall objective?” he asked.
Board members and Crowell discussed several details about fixing the old plant, but ultimately a decision wasn’t made, since Crowell wasn’t ready to proceed with publication of the bid process. “I think we’re beating a dead horse,” said Ed Beckman, board member.
Hulbert Mayor George Truitt said it was critical to have the bid publication done so officials can get the plant operational.
“I have been on this board for 10 years, and we have spent to much money patching the plant,” he said. “We realize it’s just a fix, but we need to get it at least operable to give us enough time to find another solution.”
As soon as Crowell can get the proposal together, the board will call a special meeting to move forward on the project.
Board members passed the right-of-way, public utility and encroachment agreement with the Oklahoma Department of Transportation.
“It’s a facelift that has to meet the requirements to have the highway re-surfaced through town,” said Truitt.
