TAHLEQUAH —
Cherokee County commissioners voted Tuesday to unanimously adopt the county’s 2010-2011 budget.
The county’s fiscal year officially opens July 1, and the departments have been operating on temporary appropriations since that time.
Johnny Hobbs, a local accountant who prepares the county budget, said each office got the same amount as for the previous year. He said any change to the amount, which totals, $3,724,205.03, would have amounted to $200 or less.
The county’s Excise Board must also approve the budget and then it must go through a protest period in Oklahoma City before it is officially in place.
No bids were turned in for a metal water storage tank needed by the Lowrey Fire Department.
The Welling Fire Department received the commissioners approval to change fuel card companies from Fuel Man to ComData.
Keys firefighters got approval to pay some invoices dated in the previous fiscal year.
District 1 Commissioner Doug Hubbard asked for approval to remove some chainsaws and generators from his district inventory after the items were stolen in a recent burglary of the county barn. The other commissioners approved the request.
Hubbard also received approval to work on Ronnie Crow’s property.
Hubbard said he received a request from Briggs School for a turnaround on Crow’s property for the school buses.
A memorandum of agreement was approved by the commissioners, between the Cherokee Nation and Cherokee County.
The commissioners also approved monthly reports of the court clerk, county assessor, county clerk, sheriff’s office, election board, health department and the detention center.
