TAHLEQUAH —
The Keys Public Schools Board of Education approved hiring new faculty and staff during its regular monthly meeting on Thursday.
Billie Dillard was hired as a high school special education teacher while Ladon Sloat was contracted for custodial services, said KPS Superintendent Billie Jordan.
“We also hired two part-time custodians, a bus driver and a consultant for child nutrition,” she said. “We approved all the coaching assignments, which are basically the same as last year.”
Fundraisers for the school sports programs were also approved.
Jordan’s superintendent’s report included an update on use of the new science wing in the high school and classrooms at the seventh- and eighth-grade center.
“We have moved into the new science wing in the high school,” she said. “We don’t have all the furniture in yet, but the classrooms are done. We are also moving into the classrooms at the seventh and eighth grade center. We’ll have class in those Monday. We still have some details to finish, but everything will be functioning. We have some tile backordered. There’s still some painting to do on the outside. We’re still taking bids on a new roof at the elementary, and we’re remodeling the restrooms.”
The Boys & Girls Club program will start on Monday at the elementary school.
