Gandy gets three years in drug case

TAHLEQUAH — A Tahlequah man was sentenced to more than three years in federal prison Thursday for conspiring to possess and distribute controlled substances.

Felix Gandy, 61, who is also known as Phelix Gandy and Felip Gandy, was ordered to spend 37 months in prison, followed by five years of supervised release for the federal charges.

Prosecutors said Gandy conspired with others to distribute and possess more than 280 grams crack cocaine and less than 50 kilograms of marijuana from June 2010 to April 2012.

Charges were a result of an investigation by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms Violent Crime Task Force, which is made up of agencies such as the Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office, District 27 District Attorney’s Drug Task Force, and police departments in Tahlequah and Muskogee.

Gandy was indicted in April and pleaded guilty in August 2012.

Gandy will remain in custody of the U.S. Marshal Service pending transportation to the designated federal prison, where he’ll be ineligible for parole.

Where do you think bicycle trails are most needed in Cherokee County?

In the downtown corridor.
Not downtown, because it would be too congested, but on peripheral streets, like Bluff, Downing and College, and Muskogee but not downtown.
On the rural highways mainly in recreational areas, like Highways 10 and 82.
Only in special areas, like parks.
I do not think Cherokee County needs any (or more) bike trails.
