TAHLEQUAH — An Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation probe into “official misconduct” at the Cherokee County Detention Center has been concluded.

Assistant District Attorney David Pierce said the DA’s office has received the investigative report from the agency and it [the report] indicates no criminal wrongdoing occurred.

He said no charges will be filed against anyone involved in the incident.

Jessica Brown, a spokeswoman for the OSBI, said in May that the agency was asked to look into the alleged misconduct. The exact nature of the matter was never disclosed.

She said one employee was alleged to have been involved.

CCDC Administrator Loyd Bickel, at the onset of the investigation, told Cherokee County Governmental Building Authority members the probe started when a female inmate sent a letter to several people. He said the letter was taken to the district attorney’s office and he was advised to handle the issue internally. The sheriff’s office requested the OSBI look into the matter because Sheriff Norman Fisher is a CCGBA board member.
