Bus-following dog adopted

TAHLEQUAH — Cherokee County Humane Society member Lou Hays, left, gets Red, the school bus-following dog, ready to leave the shelter with his new owner, Suzana Cavanaugh. Red was rescued by the Humane Society after following school buses from Park Hill to the Tahlequah Public Schools bus barn on Pendleton Street two weeks ago. Suzana and her husband, James, of Tulsa, adopted Red after no one claimed the canine. According to Hays, he will be an “only dog” in his new home.
