Man accused of indecent exposure

TAHLEQUAH — A Tahlequah man is facing a felony charge of indecent exposure after he allegedly revealed his private parts in the parking lot of a laundromat.

Sonny Howerton, 21, was arrested Feb. 12 by Tahlequah police.

Officer Cody Warren said police were called to Circle S, a laundromat on Downing, when a woman went outside to smoke and Howerton tried to get her attention. The woman said Howerton was sitting in his car, parked next to her vehicle. He allegedly had his pants zipper open with his genitals exposed.

The woman told police Howerton asked her if she “wanted in on it.” She said she asked him to zip up his pants, and Howerton told her he would when he was finished.

The woman called police, and Howerton drove off. Police quickly located Howerton’s vehicle and conducted a traffic stop near College and Downing. Howerton allegedly told Warren he was at the laundromat to use the Internet service to find a house to rent.

Warren said Howerton gave officers consent to look at his cell phone, and the first screen officers saw included pornographic videos. Warren said Howerton’s pants were also partially unzipped.

Howerton is free on a $15,000 bond, court records show, and is set for his initial appearance in Cherokee County District Court on March 5 at 1 p.m. in front of Associate District Judge Mark Dobbins.

Indecent exposure is punishable by up to 10 years in prison and a fine of up to $20,000.

What do you think of Sen. McCain's proposal to allow cable TV channels to be sold a la carte (individually, rather than in bundles with a lot of channels no one wants)? Bear in mind some less popular channels could go by the wayside with no bundling support, and that while overall packages should theoretically decrease in cost, individual channels might cost more.

Strongly in favor of a la carte.
