TAHLEQUAH — Cherokee County firefighters have battled a number of grass fires in recent days, including one in the Woodall area Wednesday that covered the area in smoke.
County commissioners said Thursday that they haven’t discussed a burn ban for the county, and haven’t received a flood of requests from local fire departments for such a ban. If the area doesn’t receive measurable rainfall within the next week or so, a ban may be considered, commissioners said.
Six Oklahoma counties, including Adair and Sequoyah counties, are under county-mandated burn bans.
