MUSKOGEE – A Park Hill man will serve five years in a federal prison after being sentenced on a firearms charge.
U.S. Attorney Sheldon Sperling said William Eric Creech, 22, will serve three years of probation after his release.
Creech was convicted of possession of a firearm in furtherance of a drug trafficking crime. The charge stemmed from a June 3 traffic stop when Creech had chemicals used in the manufacturing of methamphetamine and a Bryco 9mm Jennings pistol, along with numerous rounds of ammunition.
Tahlequah police, NSU police and Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms agents conducted the investigation that led to Creech’s July indictment. He pleaded guilty in August.
Creech remains in federal custody pending transportation to the designated federal prison to serve his nonparolable sentence. He has state court convictions for concealing stolen property and possession of methamphetamine.
U.S. District Judge Ronald White presided at the sentencing hearing.
Assistant U.S. Attorney D. Edward Snow prosecuted the case.
