A Tahlequah seventh-grader will be disciplined by school officials after allegedly bringing a knife to school Tuesday.
Tahlequah Police Department Public Information Officer Brad Robertson said the 13-year-old boy believed he was going to be in a fight with another 13-year-old seventh-grader. Robertson said the student who brought the pocket knife believed the other child was also bringing a knife.
Robertson said the student with the knife allegedly displayed the knife outside Tuesday morning near the band room. The incident occurred between 7 a.m. and 8:30 a.m. No one was injured during the incident.
Robertson said he knows of no previous history of any type of altercation between the two students involved. The student with the knife was taken inside to the office.
“Our SROs [school resource officers] are familiar with what goes on at their schools and handled this situation properly,” Robertson said.
Officer Brian Stanglin is assigned to the Tahlequah Middle School.
