A Cherokee County motorcyclist died Saturday from injuries he suffered in a collision with a pickup west of Tahlequah.
Robert E. Catcher, 48, suffered head trauma, trunk external, arms and leg injuries. He was pronounced dead at the scene by Cherokee Nation EMS and transported to Reed-Culver Funeral Home.
Catcher was riding a 2005 Yamaha motorcycle eastbound on U.S. Highway 62, about four miles west of Tahlequah, when a 1991 Ford Ranger pickup failed to yield from a private drive and hit the motorcycle.
The driver of the truck, 78-year-old William Nichols, and his passenger, Nettie Nichols, 71, were not injured. The Nicholses are from Muskogee.
Catcher, who was not wearing a helmet, was thrown 147 feet from the point of impact. The cause of the crash is under investigation.
The crash, which was reported at 1:42 p.m. Saturday, was investigated by Oklahoma Highway Patrol Troopers Joe Couch and J.W. Duerson, assisted by Woodall firefighters and Cherokee Nation EMS.
