Cherokee County prosecutors filed two felony counts against a Cookson woman this week.
Donna Lynne Hamby, 48, was charged with possession of a controlled drug and possession of a firearm while committing a felony.
Both charges were filed following an investigation by the District 27 Drug Task Force.
Records show DTF agents served a search warrant Sept. 29 on Hamby’s home on Molly Brown Road. Hamby was not home at the time.
The controlled substance count alleges Hamby had methamphetamine, and agents allegedly found a .22-caliber rifle.
Both counts carry possible two- to 10-year prison sentences. The firearm count also carries the possibility of a fine of up to $10,000.
Special District Judge Sandy Crosslin set a $20,000 bond on an arrest warrant issued for Hamby. Assistant District Attorney Josh King is prosecuting the case.
A possession of controlled drug case filed against Hamby in April 2003 was dismissed in September 2003 over the state’s objection, when the officer failed to identify Hamby in the courtroom.
She was represented by Donn Baker and former Assistant DA Donovan Dobbs prosecuted the case.
