Press staff reports
A Kentucky couple were injured Tuesday morning when they took evasive action to avoid a collision with a vehicle just south of Tahlequah.
Robert Downs, 64, and Patty Downs, 65, both of Morganfield, Ken., were riding a 2006 Honda Goldwing motorcycle east on U.S. Highway 62, when a white vehicle pulled from a private drive without yielding to the motorcycle.
The car, which didn’t make contact with the motorcycle, turned east onto the highway.
The Downs’ took evasive action and left 21 feet of skid marks before laying the motorcycle on its side. Both were ejected approximately 10 feet from the motorcycle. They were both wearing helmets.
Robert was treated at Tahlequah City Hospital for minor injuries and released. Patty was admitted to TCH in stable condition with an arm injury.
The crash was reported at 7:59 a.m., and investigated by Oklahoma Highway Patrol Trooper Tommy Mullins.
