Archaeological Society to meet
The Tahlequah Archaeological Society will meet Thursday, June 25, from 7 to 9 p.m., in the Carnegie Room at the Tahlequah Public Library.
The guest speaker for this month’s meeting will be Kenneth Shingleton.
Shingleton is an archaeologist and cultural resources manager for the Tulsa District Corps of Engineers, in environmental analysis and compliance.
Shingleton’s program is titled “Current Cultural Resources Challenges and the Corps of Engineers.”
Everyone is invited. There is no charge for the program or any of the monthly meetings.

Fabulous ‘50s reunion on tap
Tahlequah High School is having a Fabulous ‘50s reunion Friday, June 26 and Saturday, June 27 at First Baptist Church in Tahlequah.
Cost will be $35 per person until June 12; afterward, cost will go to $40. Registration will begin Friday at 5 p.m. at the church. A meal will follow at 6 p.m.
Saturday at 5:45 p.m. class pictures will be taken, followed by a banquet at 6 p.m. Other activities will include a tour of the Indian Cultural Center, shopping, golf and a tour of Tahlequah, for those who wish to participate.

Bill Keith book-signing June 26
Bill Keith will be at the Bank of Cherokee County Park Hill Branch, located on State Highway 52 South, for a signing of his most recent book, “The Commissioner” on Friday, June 26 from 1-3 p.m.
“Days of Anguish, Days of Hope,” will be available. It is the heroic story of Chaplain Robert Preston Taylor who spent 42 months in Japanese prison camps during World War II.
HSCC resale shop open for biz
Humane Society of Cherokee County Resale Shop, across from the Conoco/Cherokee Nation complex on State Highway 62, is a 100 percent charitable, non-profit resale shop for the Humane Society of Cherokee County.
All proceeds go toward animal humanity, including aiding, rescuing, spaying, neutering, shots and medical services and adopting animals in the county. The society provides reduced rate spay/neuter clinics to Cherokee County residents, as well as support to them and their pets.
The resale shop is open 12:30 to 4:30 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday, and can be reached at 458-1147. The HSCC can be contacted at 457-7997.
Fort Gibson to host corn fest
FORT GIBSON – Fort Gibson is hosting its first Corn Festival Friday, June 26 and Saturday, June 27.
Events taking place will include the crowning of Miss Fort Gibson, a parade, a corn-shucking contest, historic re-enactments, a gun fight by territorial marshals, vendors, games, inflatables and much more.
