Two Warner residents were charged Tuesday with taking jewelry from a woman’s home in Cherokee County.
David L. Mealer, 21, and Ashten Renee Ross, 19, are charged with larceny from a house. Prosecutors say the two took jewelry belonging to Opal McCoy from her home May 22.
Appearance bonds of $1,500 have been set for Ross and Mealer in Cherokee County. Their bonds were set at $2,500 each in Muskogee County on new charges. They will have court appearances later.
Charges were filed after an investigation by Sheriff’s Investigator Bob Sanders. Sanders and McCoy are listed as state witnesses against both individuals.
Online court records show both are also charged in Muskogee County with false declaration of ownership in pawn. The charges are felony offenses.
Larceny from a house is punishable by imprisonment for up to five years. Assistant District Attorney Josh King is prosecuting the Cherokee County cases.
