Woman charged with rape of teen boy
A Tahlequah woman was charged Thursday with six felony counts stemming from her alleged relationship with a 14-year-old boy she met at a women’s shelter.
Court records show an arrest warrant has been issued for Tina Anne Marie Unger (Shell), 20, after prosecutors charged her with three counts of first-degree rape, two counts of lewd molestation, and a single count of soliciting sexual conduct or communication with a minor by use of technology. All the incidents allegedly occurred March 14-21.
An affidavit by Lt. Jonathan Wells states he was sent to the Help-In-Crisis shelter March 24, where he met with the boy’s mother. She told police she had been staying at the shelter, and her son came to visit her during spring break. The boy purportedly formed a bond with Unger while at the shelter, and his mother became suspicious of the relationship.
Unger had apparently been left to care for the children on several occasions during their visit. The boy’s sister was also visiting at the shelter.
The mother checked the boy’s cell phone and found a cache of pictures of Unger, along with a photo of Unger and her teen son kissing. There was also a video of Unger allegedly rubbing her private areas.
The mother took the phone and her suspicions to HIC counselor Stephanie Moore, and HIC Executive Director Deana Franke called police.
Wells’ report states Unger returned to the shelter while he was taking a statement from the boy’s mother. Moore, Franke and Unger joined Wells in a private room, and Unger initially said she allowed the boy to flirt with her. But Unger then expanded on her story to Wells over a period of two hours, each time allegedly admitting new details about the relationship.
The boy’s father brought him to the police department at Wells’ request. The boy said he and Unger had sex on four separate occasions during the week and that she performed oral sex on him at least three times. Reports indicate Unger’s version of the events and the boy’s version vary only in the number of times of sexual contact, and on who instigated the actions.
Each rape count is punishable by imprisonment for one to 15 years in prison, and each lewd molestation count is punishable by imprisonment for three to 20 years. The soliciting sexual conduct count is punishable by imprisonment for up to 10 years and/or a fine of up to $10,000.
Assistant District Attorney Yvette Duvall is prosecuting the case.
