Students accused in break-in
Two Tahlequah High School students were arrested Wednesday by police after allegedly trying to break into a man’s home.
John Belt called police around 10 a.m. Wednesday to report the incident. Lt. David Huffman, Sgt. Steve Young and Officer Tyler Trammel responded and arrested Chance S. Lowe and Reggie J. King, both 18, on attempted burglary charges.
Reports state Belt was asleep on the couch when he heard someone knocking on his front door. By the time he was awake enough to answer the door, they were knocking on his back door. He then heard four kicks. When he got to the back door, no one was there. A short time later, the suspects allegedly returned to the back door, and when he answered it, he found the suspects.
Trailer recovered, meth seized
Cherokee County authorities have recovered a stolen travel trailer and seized some methamphetamine at a rural residence.
Undersheriff Jason Chennault said he served a search warrant at Tony Dickson’s residence with federal authorities. Dickson, 43, and Randy Bolin, 31, were booked into the Cherokee County Detention Center.
The search warrant came after Oklahoma Highway Patrol Trooper Tommy Mullins stopped Dickson for having an improper license plate on his vehicle. Dickson, Bolin and Lucinda Holloway, also 31, were arrested and booked on drug possession charges, based on contraband Mullins found in the vehicle.
The travel trailer was reported stolen earlier this year in Washington County, Ark.
All three individuals will be arraigned after formal charges are filed in district court.
Dem women to meet Tuesday
The monthly meeting of the Cherokee County Democratic Women will be Tuesday, May 19, at Cherry Springs Restaurant at noon.
All members of the club are encouraged to attend the board meetings and help plan the club’s activities.
