BEGGS – A Tahlequah man died Tuesday morning in a Tulsa hospital after being hit by a vehicle near Beggs.
Clayton Che-Bon Marshall, 24, suffered head, internal trunk and leg injuries. Marshall was initially taken Monday night to Okmulgee Memorial Hospital by Okmulgee County EMS and then transferred by Life Flight to St. John’s Hospital.
Marshall was standing on the center line of State Highway 16, attempting to flag down a motorist, when he was hit by a 2004 Dodge Ram 1500 pickup driven by George Lee Woods, 70, of Morris. Woods and his wife, Donna Faye, also 70, were not injured.
The Woods vehicle was eastbound on S.H. 16 when the driver tried to miss Marshall by swerving to the right.
Marshall stepped in front of the Woods vehicle and was knocked 75 feet east of the area of impact.
The Woodses were wearing seat belts. The crash occurred at 11:30 p.m. Monday.
