Tahlequah sales tax collections up, but county’s takes dip

OKLAHOMA CITY – Sales tax collections for March jumped in Tahlequah, but fell sharply in Hulbert, a report prepared by the Oklahoma Tax Commission states.

The report shows Tahlequah with a total of $577,319.96, up from $556,568.06 for the same month a year ago. Hulbert’s total was $7,188.97 for this month, down from $10,778 a year ago.

In Adair County, Stilwell brought in $192,806.39 this month, an increase from $176,483 in the same month last year. Westville’s current total of $35,564.21 is up from

$32,710.20 a year ago. Watts showed collections of $3,799.01 for this month, up from $2,661.20 a year ago.

Oaks, in Delaware County, received $727.16 this year, slightly down from $753.54 in 2008. Jay’s total was up slightly to $71161.43 from $71,096 a year ago. Kansas has totals of $12,394.13 this month compared to $12,704 a year ago.

In county returns, Cherokee County received $584,242.27 this month, down from $594,699.27 a year ago. Adair County’s current month total of $58,216.03 is up from $53,724.93 this time last year. Delaware County’s total of $211,311.12 is up from $205,672.25 in 2008.

The March distribution primarily represents local tax receipts from January business.
