Tahlequah woman injured in crash east of city


A Tahlequah woman was admitted to a local hospital Monday after suffering arm injuries in a crash east of Tahlequah.

Vicki Ryals, 60, was admitted to Tahlequah City Hospital after being transported there by TCH EMS. She was driving a 2005 Chevrolet Aveo.

Oklahoma Highway Patrol reports state Ryals was southbound on U.S. Highway 62 when she failed to negotiate a curve and went into a broadslide on wet pavement. The vehicle hit a ditch and overturned, coming to rest on its top.

The cause of the crash is listed as unsafe speed. Ryals was pinned for approximately 25 minutes before being freed. Tahlequah and Welling firefighters were called to the scene.

The crash was reported at 2:39 p.m. and investigated by OHP Trooper Tommy Mullins assisted by OHP Trooper Rodney Vick.
