Three sex offenders fail to register
Arrest warrants were issued Thursday for three men who have allegedly failed to register as sex offenders.
Charges against Gaylord Alta Ellis, 31; Terry Lamar Markham, 38; and Jerry D. Wilson, 48, were all filed following investigations by Sheriff’s Deputy James Brown.
Each man has a $10,000 bond set by Associate District Judge Mark Dobbins on his warrant.
Ellis allegedly failed to register between May and August, despite being ordered to register every three months. He was convicted on indecency with a child (sexual contact) in Hutchinson County, Texas, in 1995.
Markham allegedly failed to register within three days of moving into the sheriff’s office’s jurisdiction after being convicted of sexual conduct with a minor in Cocinino County, Ariz., in 2004.
Wilson’s charge alleges he failed to register in a three-month period and also failed to return a registration form within 10 days. His conviction is for lewd molestation in Cherokee County in 2005.
Failure to register as a sex offender is punishable by imprisonment for up to five years and/or a fine of up to $5,000. Assistant District Attorney B.J. Baker II is prosecuting the case.
