Grass fires burn near Tahlequah

By JOSH NEWTON Staff Writer

TAHLEQUAH — Tahlequah fire fighters responded to three different locations along Park Hill Road Friday afternoon for grass fires.

The calls came in at about 1:30 p.m. One fire was located on Park Hill Road near Cherry Springs golf course. A second was situated between Willis Road and Murrell Home Road on Park Hill Road, and the third was between Murrell Home Road and State Highway 82 South, near the Park Hill Cemetery.

Fire fighters on Friday said they aren't sure how the three fires were started.

Forestry services also responded to assist in extinguishing parts of the fires.

Cherokee County commissioners will meet Monday morning and decide whether to institute a burn ban.
