TAHLEQUAH —
The Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation is seeking information in the severe beatings of two Cherokee County men that apparently occurred late last week.
The two men were attacked either Thursday night or sometime Friday, according to a spokesman with the OSBI.
The state agency was asked to assist in the investigation by the Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office Friday evening after Owen White, 51, was transported to Tahlequah City Hospital for injuries to his head, and soon after transported to a Tulsa area hospital, the OSBI spokesman said.
Tahlequah police initially responded to TCH to investigate the assault, but later learned the incident had occurred outside the city limits.
When officers went to investigate the case at White’s home on East 765 Road, near the Birdtail Addition, they found 49-year-old Charles Shade, who had also been physically assaulted. Shade was hospitalized and later released, while White was still hospitalized on Monday.
Undersheriff Jason Chennault said Shade provided few details about what might have occurred.
“All he can remember is that he and the other victim were drinking beer and getting messed up with another person,” said Chennault.
After that, Shade only remembered waking up from the assault, Chennault said.
Investigators had received no new leads as of Monday evening, according to Chennault.
The OSBI is asking anyone with information about the assaults, or who saw either man Thursday evening or Friday, to call the agency at (800) 522-8017, or CCSO at (918) 456-2583.
